Staff acted on behalf of the Commission to acknowledge receipt of the supplemental information report requested by the Commission action of January 30, 2026. To request a supplemental information report, due September 1, 2026, providing (1) written evidence of approvals from all required licensing, regulatory, or other legal entities, including the United States Department of Education (Standard II) and (2) the updated status of the Prison Education Program(s) and enrolled students (Standard II). - January 30, 2026
Staff acted on behalf of the Commission to acknowledge receipt of the complex substantive change supplemental information report requested by the Commission action of April 24, 2025. To note the complex substantive change site visit occurred on October 30-31, 2025, to the main campus at 221 East 71st Street New York, NY 10021, and on December 17, 2025, to the merging institution main campus location at Northeastern University, 360 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02115. To note the information in the complex substantive change was verified. To note written evidence of approval from the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) was received. To note that written evidence of required approval has been provided by New York State Education Department. To request a supplemental information report, due May 1, 2026, providing written evidence of (1) approvals from all licensing, regulatory, or other legal entities as necessary, including approval by the United States Department of Education (Standard II); (2) completion of the fiscal year 2025 independent audited financial statements for the institution and its additional location (Standard VI); and (3) the status of documented agreements between the institution and its additional location (Standard VII; Complex Substantive Change Policy and Procedures). To remind the institution of its obligation to inform the Commission of any and all developments relevant to this action. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2029-2030. - June 20, 2025
Staff acted on behalf of the Commission to acknowledge receipt of the notification that the transaction to include the change in legal status, form of control, or ownership within the institution's scope of accreditation, occurred on June 16, 2025. To note that the accreditation cease date of June 30, 2026, is no longer in effect and will be determined after United States Department of Education has approved the merger application. To remind the institution of the Commission's action of April 24, 2025, and the complex substantive change supplemental information report due October 1, 2025. To remind the institution of its obligation to inform the Commission about any and all developments relevant to this action. - April 24, 2025
To acknowledge receipt of the complex substantive change request. To include the change in legal status, form of control, or ownership within the institution's scope of accreditation, effective June 30, 2025. To note the complex substantive change request includes Northeastern University (Northeastern New York City) becoming the sole member of Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) and subsequently merging with MMC. To require notification of the date of the closing of the transaction within five calendar days of the transaction by email to [email protected], or, if there is a subsequent delay in the anticipated date of the closing, to require immediate notification to the Commission of the revised anticipated transaction date. To further note that accreditation as approved by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) will cease on March 31, 2026. To note MMC will maintain accreditation for the sole purpose of implementing the teach-out plan and agreements and to effectuate the merger process with the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and United States Department of Education (USDE). To request a complex substantive change supplemental information report due October 1, 2025, providing: (1) the updated status of the implementation of the complex substantive change (Complex Substantive Change Policy and Procedures) and (2) written evidence of review, including but not limited to, approval from all required licensing, regulatory, or other legal entities as necessary, including but not limited to the NYSED and USDE (Standard II and Substantive Change Policy and Procedures). To note MMC will cease with MSCHE following the merger. To direct a complex substantive change site visit to main campus as soon as practicable but no later than six months after June 30, 2025. To note Northeastern University will become a related entity to MMC. To remind the institution and any related entities of their responsibility for disclosing, documenting, and explaining all significant matters and relationships that may impact compliance, including but not limited to governance, independence, autonomy, management, administration, and financial viability (Related Entities Policy and Procedures). To note that the Commission reserves the right to rescind this action if any developments reveal additional information that might have affected the Commission's decision and/or if the complex substantive change is not implemented within one year of this action. To remind the institution of its obligation to inform the Commission immediately about any and all significant developments that may impact the institution's closure (Standard VII). - April 24, 2025

To include the reclassification of the additional location at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility, 247 Harris Road, Bedford Hills, NY 10507 to a Second Chance Pell Experimental Site. To note that the following programs are offered at the location: (1) Associate of Arts in Social Sciences, (2) Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and (3) Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Human Rights. To request a supplemental information report, due April 1, 2025, that provides an update on the specific milestones that demonstrate progress toward developing an approved Prison Education Program (PEP) as provided in the amended Program Participation Agreement (PPA), including: (1) signed written agreement with its correctional facility partner; (2) written evidence of the oversight entity's permission to offer the PEP at the correctional facility; and (3) written documentation of assurances that the oversight entity will provide the best interest determination for the proposed program and provide transfer and release data for students enrolled in the approved program(s) to the institution. To direct a substantive change site visit as soon as practicable but no later than six months after the date of this action. To note that the Commission may rescind this action if the substantive change is not implemented or the institution's participation in the experiment is terminated by the United States Department of Education (USDE).
