Thanksgiving Food Drive Benefits Those in Need

Staff from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education took part in a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit a local organization feeding those in need this year. Food was collected during the months of October and November 2018.

Collected items included canned soup, fruit, and vegetables; cereal; pasta and sauce; peanut butter, and juice among a variety of needed items.

“Dropping off the donation was very fulfilling, especially since we had a chance to see the individuals who were receiving the food,” said Executive Assistant Wendy DeJesus and one of the organizers of the food drive. “You really got a sense of community with everyone gathered together, especially for the holidays. The deacon of the church where we dropped off the donation was very grateful.”

The initiative was spearheaded by the Staff Advisory Committee. Members of the Commission staff expressed an interest in a community service initiative this year and embraced the opportunity to provide items locally for those in need during the Thanksgiving holiday season. MSCHE looks forward to participating in other community service events throughout the year as a way to give back to the community and spend time together as staff.
