MSCHE Membership to Vote on New Policy for Teach-Out Plans and Agreements

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is requesting member approval of a new policy, Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Policy. A ballot was distributed to member institutions on November 19 and will remain open until December 10, 2018. Voting is restricted to the CEOs of member institutions only.

The policy as it is presented for approval is attached to the member ballot. It is also available on the Policies Under Review page. The policy outlines the circumstances for which a teach-out plan and/or teach-out agreements will be required by the Commission.

In accordance with the policy approval process, including a public call for comments in September, the Commission approved the policy at its November 2018 meeting. If approved by membership, the policy and its related Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Procedures will become effective Jan. 1, 2019. The Teach-Out Plans and Agreements Policy and Procedures will replace the current policy Merging or Closing a Postsecondary Institution or Program Site which will be withdrawn.
