Staff acted on behalf of the Commission to acknowledge receipt of the supplemental information report requested by the Commission action of November 6, 2023, providing information on key data indicators (student achievement), as reported on the 2023 Annual Institutional Update (AIU) in accordance with federal regulation 34 CFR § 602.19(d). To acknowledge receipt of the Accreditation Readiness Report. To note the on-site Candidate Assessment Team Visit by the Commission's representatives on November 4, 2022, to the main campus at 148 East 126th Street, New York, NY 10035. To note that the United States Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid determined reasonable cause for the change in accreditor and issued approval for the change in accreditor on January 27, 2023 pursuant to DCL ID GEN 22-11 updated September 26, 2022, and DCL ID GEN 22-10 dated July 19, 2022. To further note that the Commission has determined the institutional change of accrediting agency is voluntary pursuant to 34 C.F.R. § 602.14(a). To grant Candidate for Accreditation status. To invite the institution to initiate self-study in preparation for an evaluation visit in 2025-2026. To remind the institution of its obligation during self-study to address the findings in the team report. To note that Candidate for Accreditation status is an indication that an institution is progressing toward, but is not assured of, accreditation. To note that the institution may not be in Candidacy for more than five years before the grant of accreditation in accordance with federal regulation 34 CFR § 602.16(a)(2). To note that the institution's baseline scope of candidate for accreditation includes the main campus location at 148 East 126th Street, New York, NY 10035. To note the institution's baseline scope of candidate for accreditation includes the Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent credential level. To note that prior approval through substantive change is required to change the institution's scope of accreditation after the date that candidate status is granted (Substantive Change Policy and Procedures). To note that it is the institution's responsibility to ascertain any requirements related to its eligibility for Title IV funding (student financial aid programs) and completing any required activities related to that process. To note that the Commission reserves the right to rescind this action if any developments reveal additional information that might have affected the Commission's decision.
