Accreditation Actions
The following represents the MSCHE accreditation actions taken in the last ten (10) years. For more information, see the Commission’s Accreditation Actions Policy and Procedures and the Substantive Change Policy and Procedures.
- December 2, 2022Staff acted on behalf of the Commission to request a supplemental information report due January 9, 2023, providing information on enrollment by educational program in accordance with federal regulation 34 CFR § 602.19 (d) (Accreditation Review Cycle and Monitoring Policy and Procedures). The next evaluation date is scheduled for 2026-2027.
- March 14, 2019To note the substantive change site visit occurred at the relocated main campus at 11200 Rockville Pike Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852 and the information provided in the substantive change request was verified. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2026-2027.
- October 29, 2018To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the first Postsecondary Certificate (<1 year) in Applied Cyber Security within the scope of the institution's accreditation. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2026-2027.
- June 21, 2018To reaffirm accreditation and to commend the institution for the quality of the self-study report. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2026-2027.
- March 5, 2018To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include within the scope of the institution's accreditation the relocation of the main campus from 8120 Woodmont Ave. Ste. 205, Bethesda, MD 20814 to 11200 Rockville Pike Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852, and to include provisionally the new location pending a site visit within six months of the commencement of operations. The Commission requires written notification within thirty days of the commencement of operations at the new location and the closure of the old location. Operations at the new location must commence within one calendar year from the date of this action. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2017-2018.
- March 3, 2016To accept the progress report. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2017-2018.
- March 3, 2014To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the post-baccalaureate certificate programs in (1) Cybersecurity Engineering Core and (2) Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking within the scope of the institution's accreditation. To remind the institution of the progress report due November 1, 2015, documenting further development and implementation of strategies to measure and assess the level and efficient utilization of institutional resources required to support the institution's mission and goals. (Standard 3) The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2017-2018.
- November 21, 2013To grant accreditation. To commend the institution for the quality of the self-study process and report. To request a progress report due November 1, 2015, documenting further development and implementation of strategies to measure and assess the level and efficient utilization of institutional resources required to support the institution's mission and goals. (Standard 3) The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2017-2018.
- June 23, 2011To accept the semi-annual interim report and the consultant’s report and to invite the institution to initiate self-study in preparation for an evaluation visit scheduled for 2013-2014. To note that Candidate for Accreditation status is an indication that an institution is progressing toward, but not assured of, accreditation.
- November 18, 2010To accept the semi-annual interim report submitted by the institution and the consultant's report. To remind the institution that the next semi-annual interim report, which should address the recommendations in the consultant's report, is due April 1, 2011.
Information about the Middle States Commission on Higher Education
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) is an institutional accreditor in the United States and is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). MSCHE accreditation applies to an institution as a whole rather than the specific programs within an institution. MSCHE does not approve or accredit individual programs. The MSCHE accreditation review cycle is continuous and accreditation does not expire. Each institution is reevaluated and monitored on a regular and consistent basis in accordance with the institution’s assigned accreditation review cycle and Commission policy and procedures. An institution maintains its accreditation unless it is voluntarily surrendered or withdrawn by the Commission for cause, after the institution has been afforded due process. The institution’s current accreditation phase and accreditation status are displayed on the institution’s listing in the Institution Directory and in the Statement of Accreditation Status (SAS).
