Accreditation Actions

The following represents the MSCHE accreditation actions taken in the last ten (10) years. For more information, see the Commission’s Accreditation Actions Policy and Procedures and the Substantive Change Policy and Procedures.

• January 13, 2023
  To note receipt of notification that Pennsylvania Department of Education approval is not required for the relocation of the additional location at 1000 Horizon Vue Drive, Suite 1A32 Canonsburg, PA 15317.
• January 3, 2023
  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To note the institution's decision to close the additional location at Monongahela Valley Hospital 1163 Country Club Road Monongahela, PA 15063 that has ceased operations. To remove the additional location from the institution's scope of accreditation. To note that the Commission reserves the right to rescind this action if any developments reveal additional information that might have affected the Commission's decision.

  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To note the institution's decision to close the additional location at Allegheny General Hospital 200 E. North Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15212 that has ceased operations. To remove the additional location from the institution's scope of accreditation. To note that the Commission reserves the right to rescind this action if any developments reveal additional information that might have affected the Commission's decision.
• January 3, 2023
  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the relocation of the additional location from 6000 Town Center Blvd. Canonsburg, PA 15317 to 1000 Horizon Vue Drive, Suite 1A32 Canonsburg, PA 15317 within the institution's scope of accreditation. To require immediate notification when instruction commences at the new location and of the date that instruction ceases at the former location. To require written evidence of approvals from all necessary licensing, regulatory, or other legal entities as necessary including the Pennsylvania Department of Education. To note the Commission may rescind this action if instruction does not commence within one calendar year from the date of this action. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2023-2024.
• March 4, 2021
  To note that the Mid-Point Peer Review has been conducted. To request that, beginning in 2021 and in conjunction with each Annual Institutional Update prior to the self-study visit in 2023-2024, the institution provide further evidence of (1) enrollment management planning linked to budget development (Standard VI) and (2) improved financial viability and sustainability (Standard VI).

  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the first Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Addictions Counseling within the institution's scope of accreditation. To note the Commission may rescind this action if the requested substantive change is not implemented within one calendar year from the date of this action. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2023-2024.
• March 2, 2017
  To accept the progress report. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2023 - 2024.
• August 29, 2016
  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include within the scope of the institution's accreditation the relocation of the additional location from North Hills Center, 300 Seven Fields Boulevard, Suite 100, Seven Fields, PA 16046 to Regional Learning Alliance, 850 Cranberry Woods Drive, Cranberry Township, PA 16066 and to include the new location. The Commission requires written notification within thirty days of the commencement of operations at the new location and the closure of the old location. Operations at the location must commence within one calendar year from the date of this action. The date for the next accreditation review will be determined by the Commission when it revises the accreditation cycle.

  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the online MBA and online Masters of Education in Instructional Technology programs within the scope of the institution's accreditation.

  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To approve the reclassification of the instructional sites at (1) UPMC Passavant, 9100 Babcock Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15237; (2) Forbes Valley Hospital, 2570 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, PA 15146; and (3) Allegheny Valley Hospital, 1301 Carlisle Street, Natrona Heights, PA 15065 as additional locations and to include the locations within the scope of the institution's accreditation. To remind the institution of the request for a progress report due December 1, 2016 documenting further implementation of a comprehensive, organized, and sustained process to assess the achievement of student learning outcomes in all programs, including general education, with evidence that assessment results are used for the improvement of teaching and learning (Standards 12 and 14). The Periodic Review Report is due June 1, 2020.

  To reaffirm accreditation and to request a progress report due December 1, 2016 documenting further implementation of a comprehensive, organized, and sustained process to assess the achievement of student learning outcomes in all programs, including general education, with evidence that assessment results are used for the improvement of teaching and learning (Standards 12 and 14). The Periodic Review Report is due June 1, 2020.

  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision within the scope of the institution's accreditation. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2014-2015.
• March 5, 2013
  To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request and to include the additional location at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital, 4800 Friendship Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 within the scope of the institution's accreditation. The Commission requires written notification within thirty days of the commencement of operations at the additional location. To approve the relocation of the Southpointe Center additional location from 1001 Corporate Drive, Summit Corporate Center, Suite 100, Canonsburg, PA 15317 to 6000 Town Center Blvd, Canonsburg, PA 15317, and to include the new location within the scope of the institution's accreditation. The Commission requires written notification within thirty days of the commencement of operations at the additional location. In the event that operations at the additional location do not commence within one calendar year from the approval of this action, approval will lapse. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2014-2015.

  To accept the Periodic Review Report and to reaffirm accreditation. To request a progress report, due October 1, 2011, documenting the development and implementation of the process that links long-range planning to assessment, decision-making and budgeting processes (Standard 2). The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2014-2015.
