  • The following represents the MSCHE accreditation actions taken in the last ten (10) years.
  • April 16, 2020
    To acknowledge receipt of formal written notice from the institution in response to the Commission’s request of March 9, 2020. To temporarily waive Substantive Change Policy and Procedures and allow the use of distance education to accommodate students impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19) interruptions, in accordance with United States Department of Education (USDE) guidelines published March 5, 2020. Continued use of distance education beyond the limitations of USDE guidelines will require substantive change approval in accordance with Substantive Change Policy and Procedures. This flexibility is not available for clock-hour courses that lead to licensure if the licensing body will not accept distance learning courses or hours or give credit for them toward the number of hours a student must complete. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2021-2022.
  • October 29, 2019
    To acknowledge receipt of the substantive change request. To include the first alternative delivery method-distance education program [Postsecondary Certificate (>=1 year, < 2 years) in Farm and Food Entrepreneurship] within the institution’s scope of accreditation. To require written evidence of approvals from all necessary licensing, regulatory, or other legal entities as necessary, including the New York State Education Department (NYSED). To note that the Commission may rescind this action if the requested substantive change is not implemented within one calendar year from the date of this action. The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2021-2022.
  • April 18, 2018
    To accept the Periodic Review Report, to reaffirm accreditation, and to request that, beginning in 2019 and in conjunction with each Annual Institutional Update prior to the Self-Study Evaluation visit in 2021-2022, the institution provide further evidence of organized and systematic assessments which evaluate the extent of student achievement in general education (Standard V). The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2021-2022.

    To accept the Periodic Review Report, to reaffirm accreditation, and to request that, beginning in 2019, in conjunction with each Annual Institutional Update, the institution provide further evidence of organized and systematic assessments which evaluate the extent of student achievement in general education (Standard V). The next evaluation visit is scheduled for 2021-2022.

    To accept the monitoring report. To request a monitoring report, due October 1, 2014, documenting (1) that the institution’s administrative structure facilitates learning and fosters quality improvement, and (2) that qualified administrative leaders are in place appropriate to the goals, type, size, and complexity of the institution and who have the skills and time necessary to discharge their duties effectively (Standard 5). To remind the institution of the monitoring report, due September 1, 2013, documenting (1) steps taken to ensure that institutional assessment processes are sustainable, (2) further development and implementation of additional quantitative measures of outcomes and effectiveness, and (3) further implementation of the use of assessment results from academic and administrative divisions to inform budget and resource allocation decisions (Standard 7). A visit may follow submission of the monitoring report. The Periodic Review Report is due June 1, 2017.

    To accept the monitoring report and to note the visit by the Commission's representatives. To remove the warning because the institution is now in compliance with Standard 7 (Institutional Assessment), and to reaffirm accreditation. To request a monitoring report, due September 1, 2013, documenting (1) steps taken to ensure that institutional assessment processes are sustainable, (2) further development and implementation of additional quantitative measures of outcomes and effectiveness, and (3) further implementation of the use of assessment results from academic and administrative divisions to inform budget and resource allocation decisions (Standard 7). A visit may follow submission of the monitoring report. To further request a monitoring report, due April 1, 2013, providing evidence that there is a Chief Executive Officer whose primary responsibility is to lead the institution toward the achievement of its goals and for the administration of the institution (Standard 5), and an assessment of the effectiveness of institutional leadership and governance, in relation to recently implemented shared services agreements (Standard 4).The Periodic Review Report is now due June 1, 2017.

    To note the recent communication with the Commission’s representative and to remind the institution that it has been warned that its accreditation may be in jeopardy because of a lack of evidence that the institution is currently in compliance with Standard 7 (Institutional Assessment). To note that the institution remains accredited while on warning. To further remind the institution of the monitoring report, due March 1, 2012, documenting evidence that the institution has achieved and can sustain ongoing compliance with Standard 7. The monitoring report should include, but not be limited to, documentation of the development and implementation of a comprehensive, organized and sustained process for the assessment of institutional effectiveness, with evidence that assessment information is used in budgeting, planning and allocating resources (Standard 7). A small team visit will follow submission of the monitoring report. The due date of the Periodic Review Report will be established when accreditation is reaffirmed.

    To warn the institution that its accreditation may be in jeopardy because of insufficient evidence that the institution is currently in compliance with Standard 7 (Institutional Assessment). To note that the institution remains accredited while on warning. A small team visit will follow submission of the monitoring report. To direct a prompt Commission liaison guidance visit to discuss the Commission's expectations for reporting. To further note that the Periodic Review Report submission date will be established when accreditation is reaffirmed.
