NEW DATE: Incremental Credentialing: Building Solutions for a New Learn-Work Ecosystem
May 5, 2021 at 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Event Navigation
This webinar date has been changed to Wednesday, May 5 (from May 4).
Credential attainment in the United States is in crisis. Even before the pandemic, too many students were unable to complete degrees. When they pause or stop their educational programs for financial, work, family, and other reasons, their learning (knowledge and accomplishments) goes unrecognized and undocumented. Since the pandemic, numbers of students with undocumented learning have increased. Credentials are essential in our learn-and work ecosystem; people need official verification and recognition of what they know and can do. Credentials “seal” the learning and leverage that recognition to help students obtain and sustain employment and further their education. This webinar will share findings from the Lumina Foundation funded grant, Credential As You Go, and the resulting model for how incremental credentialing can meet the needs of the learn-and-work ecosystem and address inequities in education and work. Furthering the role that incremental credentialing can play to advance education and economic recovery will also be discussed.
