October 28, 2019 - October 29, 2019
Event Navigation
About the Institute
The Self-Study Institute is a two-day workshop, sponsored by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, for representatives from institutions within the Middle States region that are undergoing either their first or their next self-study in preparation for an evaluation visit in 2021-2022.
Eligibility
Institutions in the Middle States region that are scheduled for review in the 2021–2022 academic year are required to send up to three representatives to the 2019 Self-Study Institute. We recommend that one of the participants is the self-study chair. In addition, other participants may be the Accreditation Liaison Officer or other individuals who either will be self-study leaders at some level or will be involved in identifying the self-study leaders.
Preliminary Agenda
The 2019 Self-Study Institute will focus on the use of the Standards for Accreditation in the self-study process, the initial planning stages of the self-study, and the development of the Self-Study Design. This year’s Self-Study Institute will feature participants from institutions who will share their recent self-study experiences.
Each day will begin with a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m. The agenda includes plenary and breakout work sessions in the morning and afternoon. Lunch is included as part of the event package, and daily receptions will close the day’s activities at 5:45 p.m. During the Institute, there will be time for representatives to meet with the Commission staff liaison for their respective institution.
Study Materials
Study materials will be provided to participants in advance of the Self-Study Institute. In addition, participants are encouraged to become familiar with the Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation as well as the Self-Study Guide. Presenters, facilitators, and participants will refer to these documents, along with other materials that will be made available at a later date.
Registration
Registration for the Institute is by invitation only, which has been sent via email to the institution’s chief executive officer and accreditation liaison officer (ALO). Each eligible institution is guaranteed three seats at the Self-Study Institute.
Registration must be done online. We request that the ALO register the individuals from their institution and use the registration code provided with the invitation email. All payments must be by credit card. Checks and purchase orders cannot be accepted.
