MSCHE Announces New Commissioner Ronald H. Nowaczyk

Ronald H. NowaczykThe Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) appointed Dr. Ronald H. Nowaczyk, President of Frostburg State University (FSU), to serve as a Commissioner from August 24, 2023, through December 31, 2029.

“Ron has been engaged with the Commission for many years, and the breadth of his service and demonstrated respect for the value of accreditation will result in significant contributions as a Commissioner,” says Commission Chair Davie Gilmour. “He brings professional experiences and a diverse perspective from across many areas of higher education, and these will be tremendously important through his work with the Commission.”

Prior to beginning his presidency at FSU, Ron served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Clarion University (PA). He has served in numerous positions in higher-education administration, including Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of New Haven (CT) and Associate Vice Chancellor for Economic and Community Development and Department of Psychology Chair at East Carolina University (NC). He also served as an American Council on Education Fellow at the University of Delaware.

Ron earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from Miami University (OH) and a B.A. in psychology from Northwestern University (IL).
