MSCHE Welcomes Connie Clifton as Director for Membership

Connie CliftonThe Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) will welcome Dr. Connie Clifton in January 2023 as the Director for Membership. In this role, she supports the Commission’s strategic priority relating to its membership initiative, which includes service to new prospective institutions as well as support for the peer review process.

“I am thrilled to welcome Connie Clifton to the Commission. This is an exciting opportunity for her and us as we continue to drive the important work of accreditation with new institutions interested in the Middle States Commission on Higher Education from within and beyond our traditional boundaries,” said Senior Vice President for Accreditation Relations Dr. Idna Corbett. “More than 60 institutions have inquired about MSCHE membership since July 2020. Connie’s professional experience in higher education as well as a peer evaluator will lend well to the Commission’s responsiveness to these and other institutions with whom we work.”

Prior to joining the Commission, Dr. Clifton served as the Dean of Educational Services at Allegany College of Maryland where she held various other positions in the areas of admissions, enrollment, advising, and academic affairs during her 30-year tenure.

Dr. Clifton earned an E.L.D. from the University of Charleston (WV), an M.B.A. from Frostburg State University (MD), and a B.A. in English from West Virginia University.
