MSCHE Unveils New USDE Recognition Webpage

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) has unveiled a webpage dedicated to the renewal process for its recognition with the United States Department of Education (USDE).

MSCHE’s USDE Recognition page provides information about the recognition process for institutional accreditors. Institutional accreditors undergo the process for USDE federal recognition every five years. As part of the process, MSCHE will appear before the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) on February 15, 2023, to make a formal presentation, answer questions from NACIQI members, and respond to public comments before a final recommendation is rendered within 90 days of the appearance. MSCHE’s recognition was last renewed in May 2018.

“At MSCHE, we are proud of our commitment to high standards, self-reflection, transparency, and growth, which the federal recognition process fosters. The information found at our USDE Recognition page is designed to be helpful to all of our constituents,” said MSCHE President Dr. Heather F. Perfetti. “Institutions and members of the public are important voices in this critical federal process, and we continue to ask that member institutions, their students, and the public take part in our petition process.”

Member institutions and the general public are encouraged to register to speak at MSCHE’s NACIQI appearance. More information will be shared about MSCHE’s USDE recognition appearance before NACIQI as it becomes available.
