Dr. Tracey L. Schneider joined the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) in February 2022 as Senior Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel. Dr. Schneider has more than 15 years of legal experience with a primary focus on education law to this newly created position.

At MSCHE, Dr. Schneider will provide legal assistance and support to the President, the Commission, and staff. She will oversee the Commission’s legal aspects of the complex substantive change process, support personnel-related matters, manage subpoenas and other legal notices, and review documents and contracts to support the work of the organization. She also will serve as a member of the MSCHE President’s Cabinet and Executive Leadership Team.

Prior to joining MSCHE, Dr. Schneider served as general counsel for an educational institution, represented public and private educational entities in private practice, and held a faculty position teaching in organizational leadership in a doctoral program. Dr. Schneider frequently publishes and presents on a wide variety of legal and organizational topics.

Her academic credentials include a B.S in Business Administration from the University of Richmond (VA), a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy, Planning & Leadership from the College of William & Mary (VA).
