Statement on Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education has been in ongoing discussions with Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education and its institutions regarding the proposal approved by the State System of Higher Education board on July 14, 2021. The Commission has procedures in place to assist any of its institutions considering a merger, acquisition, or consolidation. These transactions move through the Commission’s multi-layer Complex Substantive Change process, which can take up to a year. The Commission remains focused on ensuring the educational quality of its institutions for students and the public and that all institutions continue to meet the Commission’s Standards of Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation, regardless of what form a final transaction may take (https://www.msche.org/standards/).
