MSCHE Joins Call to Clarify Status for International Students
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education joined a letter coordinated by the American Council on Education (ACE) asking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide guidance for international students and exchange visitors on what to expect for the spring 2021 semester.
In addition to the guidance, the letter requested maximum flexibility in order to allow colleges and universities and students to plan for the coming semester.
“As you know, international students have an enormous economic impact on the U.S. economy,” wrote ACE President Ted Mitchell addressing the reduced enrollment of international students in fall 2020. “The declining enrollment numbers for 2020 are likely to have an increasingly large negative impact as we continue to deal with the economic consequences of the global pandemic.”
