MSCHE Welcomes Two New Staffers and Elevates Two Others
Dr. Paul L. Starkey, Vice President for Institutional Field Relations, and Ms. Bridgette M. Boody, Associate Policy Analyst and Records Officer, joined the Middle States Commission on Higher Education on August 3, 2020. In addition, Ms. Kathie Jeffries has been elevated to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, while Ms. Wendy DeJesus has been named Assistant Director of Human Resources and Office Manager.
Dr. Starkey comes to the Commission from the Pennsylvania College of Technology where he was a Professor of Business Administration, and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, serving as the Penn College’s President’s senior staff member and as a full-time faculty member. Prior to coming to Penn College, Dr. Starkey spent 24 years at Delta State University (MS) in various faculty and administrative roles. He holds a BBA in Marketing from Delta State University and an MBA and PhD in Management from the University of Mississippi.
Ms. Boody is serving in the new role of Associate Policy Analyst and Records Officer where she will contribute to all phases of policy development, including researching, writing, and ensuring alignment of policies and procedures. She is also responsible for managing the Commission’s maintenance and retention program and responding to all legal and regulatory requests for information and documents. Prior to joining the MSCHE team, Ms. Boody was a Policy Associate at Rodel Delaware, where she conducted research on best practices related to K-12 education. She received bachelors’ degrees in political science and women’s studies from the Pennsylvania State University.
Ms. Jeffries, who was first promoted to Interim Vice President for Finance in January 2020, removes the interim title, while adding also the title of Chief Financial Officer. She had joined MSCHE as Senior Financial Analyst in July 2009 and had served as Controller from January 2016 through January 2020. Before coming to the Commission, Ms. Jeffries served as Controller at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she worked from 2001-2009.
Ms. DeJesus had been serving as Executive Assistant for MSCHE since in July 2019. In her new position, Ms. DeJesus will continue supporting the work of the Finance Unit but her responsibilities expand to include office and human resources management. She first worked through the Middle States Association as an Administrative Services Coordinator before the full-time transition of her position to the MSCHE.
