Policies Under Review

MSCHE reviews various policies on an ongoing basis and seeks input from member institutions on Commission-proposed changes. The Commission is currently reviewing public comments on the following policies after an open comment period from March 27 through April 17, 2017, and will consider a revised draft at a future meeting. If you wish to provide comments, please submit them to Mary Beth Kait, Senior Director for Accreditation Policy, at policy@msche.org.

Communication in the Accreditation Process

In order to eliminate duplication and confusion, several MSCHE policies were reviewed and merged. Formerly titled Public Communication in the Accreditation Process, this single document combines the relevant content of Public Communication in the Accreditation Process, Notification of Accreditation Decisions, and Commission Reporting to the U.S. Department of Education.

Published Information and Student Recruitment

Formerly titled Advertising, Student Recruitment, and Representation of Accredited Status, this document focuses more specifically on the institution's provision of published information to its constituents. An important change from the existing policy is items that had been specifically required as part of the institutional catalog are no longer required to be specifically published in the catalog. The section describing the Commission's position on inducements in student recruitment has been rewritten to clarify the Commission position that agents recruiting international students should not be paid on a per capita basis. The section on Specific Misrepresentation has been deleted. The former section on Representation of Accredited Status has been moved to another policy.
